Types of Finishes
REDAWN HARD® – Concrete Finish Options
A Cream Finish retains the natural cement paste at the concrete surface, creating a smooth, uniform and clean appearance. REDAWN HARD® can be used to densify and harden the surface while maintaining this finish.
Pepper Salt / Semi-Exposed Finish
A Pepper Salt or Semi-Exposed Finish lightly exposes fine aggregates at the surface, producing a subtle decorative texture. REDAWN HARD® helps improve surface hardness and durability while retaining the desired aggregate appearance.
An Exposed Aggregate Finish reveals the selected coarse aggregates within the concrete, creating a decorative and durable architectural surface. After suitable surface preparation, REDAWN HARD® can densify the cementitious matrix and improve resistance to abrasion and dusting.
The concrete can also be mechanically ground and polished to create a smooth, decorative and reflective polished finish. REDAWN HARD® supports the densification process before or during suitable polishing systems.
Finish Selection
The final appearance depends primarily on concrete mix design, aggregate selection, placement, timing of finishing, surface treatment and grinding/exposure depth. REDAWN HARD® is used to enhance the performance of the finished concrete surface.
